the planets of the nimbunese empire
planet borealis
Capital: Glacia
Borealis is not just cold. It’s what’s left when the galaxy forgets you.
Borealis is a planet of cold beauty and colder truths — a jagged, glacial jewel lost in the Empire’s farthest reaches. With its sun a distant pale disc and its summers barely distinguishable from winter, life on Borealis is not just harsh — it’s survival on the edge of extinction.
The planet is carved into two worlds: the hill settlements, warmed by geothermal vents and home to independent hunters and scholars like the Dravens; and the vast underground tunnels, where ancient tribes known as tunnel-dwellers preserve forgotten customs and bioluminescent flora light the darkness.
Though technically part of the Empire, Borealis has long been neglected — a frozen afterthought, valued only for its resilience and resourceful people. But that changes when the Nimbus Trials are unexpectedly brought to its capital. Suddenly, Borealis is no longer just a quiet outpost. It becomes the center of something much larger — and far more dangerous.
imperial capital NIMBUS
Capital: Arcana
Nimbus is not a planet. It is a paradox.
Suspended in the heart of the Empire, Nimbus defies natural law — a glowing pink-violet dwarf world that serves as both the physical and mystical anchor of the known galaxy. Unlike traditional planets, Nimbus emits no heat, has no stable landmass, and does not orbit its sun. Instead, it holds its own orbit, encircled by the seven Royal Planets — a formation maintained by a gravitational distortion caused by Aetherium, the most potent magical substance ever discovered.
Nimbus is cloaked in endless oceans of radiant cloud, below which no explorer has ever returned. Rising above these clouds are monumental golden platforms that float impossibly in the upper atmosphere. Upon them rests Arcana, the Empire’s celestial capital of magic, and the seat of the Arcane Council — the most powerful mages in the galaxy.
royal planet aureus
Capital: Candleburn
Aureus is not forged by fire — but by light and legacy.
Home to House Aureus, one of the Empire’s ruling bloodlines, Planet Aureus is a world shaped by clarity, control, and quiet intensity. While little is said of its surface in official archives, its reputation across the First Worlds is well known: Aureus breeds warriors, leaders, and paragons of Imperial loyalty.
The planet's most iconic symbol — the golden sun sigil — reflects its cultural values: radiance, order, and unwavering discipline. Members of House Aureus are often seen wearing silver armor adorned with the sun, a mark of both military precision and solar-inspired resilience.
